Crystal
Coast Unity Church will soon be giving away $2 bills to
kick off its "Pay It Forward and Buy Local"
campaign.
To
receive the $2 bills you must agree to spend them locally
- not save them, not mail then away - only spend them
in Carteret County.
County
Cooperative Extension Agent Ray Harris will share many
stories of the rewards of paying it forward during a planned
workshop at Crystal Coast Unity Church on Sunday, June
14, 1 to 4 pm. The workshop is free with love offerings
accepted. Refreshments will be provided.

Those
receiving a $2 bill are invited and encouraged to add
their own $2 (or more) to it and pay it all forward to
yet another local establishment or person. If you don't
want to add money when receiving a $2 bill, add a kindness
to another person.
Then
report your stories to the church web site so they many
be published. Some examples of "Paying It Forward"
might include:
- Adding
another $2 (or more) to the $2 received and giving it
to another business or person
- Giving
the $2 bill to another in line st the grocery store
or elsewhere, for no reason at all
- Sharing
kindness or a prayer whenever you see a $2 bill
- Giving
a ride to someone you know "just because you care"

To
assist in keeping these $2 bills circulating locally,
organizers ask merchants who receive these bills to not
put them in the daily deposit to the bank. Instead, allow
employees to substitute two $1 bills so they can keep
that $2 bill circulating to another Paying It Forward
opportunity.
This
campaign is sponsored by Crystal Coast Unity Church and
has support from the Carteret Chamber of Commerce, Art
Studio 500, and Mr. Harris.
